The SAT Program is the first intensive Substance Abuse Treatment program for Shelby County. It is designed to address the growing need for substance abuse treatment within the Shelby County community. It will prevent Shelby County residents from having to go to Louisville and/or Lexington for an intensive treatment program.
It is a 15 week intensive outpatient treatment program. Services include intensive substance abuse groups, family groups, interactive journaling, time management, relapse prevention, Alcohol and Narcotic Anonymous attendance, drug testing, mental health and employment referrals as necessary. Clients must agree to be supervised by a court-approved court-monitoring program and commit to establishing and maintaining sobriety while participating.
It is a 3-2-1 step-down program. The first 6 weeks, clients will attend 3 groups per week, the second 6 weeks, 2 groups per week and the third 6 weeks, 1 group per week. Clients will attend a total of 36 group meetings in the 15 week period. The groups will meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Random drug screens are also a part of the program.
